Money, Day 10: Down to the Wire
Okay.. I just checked the account. With about ten days left to the pay period, we are down to a working total of $37. Granted, that is not including the $67 that is currently snuggled up in our Savings account, but for the sake of, you know, not being ridiculous about this, I’m going to pretend that money isn’t there. So. $37… to last a family of six for ten days.
And I plan to have two other families over for Chili on Saturday. I’m good. >_<

Lent, Day 42: Narrow Garage
Yet another reminder of the fact that losing weight also means losing actual size and girth. Andy cleaned out the garage this past weekend, which meant a lot of the stuff that had been piled up on ‘my side’ (or at least, the side where we park the van, which is the car I usually drive) was moved out and disposed of.

Lent, Day 34: How I Do It
OKay… so… I’m down nearly 60 pounds now, and believe it or not, people actually notice! I’m sure this has to do with the fact that my clothes actually fit now, thanks to Michelle and Lisa, but regardless… Easily the most common reaction I get from people is, “What are you doing?” and, when I tell them, “Wow, how do DO that?”
So this will be the overview post. It will be redundant, but it’s the sort of ’shop talk’ version of the ADF thing, so it might be interesting even if you’ve been reading awhile.
Here’s what I do:

Lent, Day 33: Andy and Odwalla
Short entry today, because I’m short on time. I just wanted to mention two things.

Sleep, Day 6: This just in: JEN DOES NOT LIKE MUFFINS!
I am pleased to announce that I am walking as I type this. I made good on my threat to come down and walk this morning as quickly as could be managed, a feat that was made all the easier because Andy made muffins for breakfast. Bleh! And of course, in his usual fit of Complete Insensitivity To What Jen Likes, Andy made Chocolate Chip muffins. I mean, seriously…. if there is one way to make a muffin even LESS appealing to me, it’s to throw chocolate into it. YUCK.

Exercise+, Day 21: DONE!
Success! As of this writing I have officially completed this round! The ‘Winter Birthday Party’ today ended around 8:30, and I actually got down here by 9:00 to walk. In the last part of this round, that’s surprisingly early for me, so I’m finished and it’s only 11:00. I figure I’ll write this entry and then head up to bed and get a jump on next week’s goal of getting to bed by 11:30.

Exercise+, Day 18: Tomorrow’s Gonna Be Another Day…
I used to be a huge Monkees fan. Back in 1986, when they resurfaced for their big reunion tour, I was one of those pre-teens who hopped on the bandwagon and decided to moon after men who were old enough to be my father. Somehow at the time this didn’t strike me as nearly so lame as it appears now in hindsight, but I guess in the broad scheme of things it was a safe enough crush. My friends and I were effectively crushing on the 20-something versions of these guys, so the targets of our affections effectively no longer existed.
At any rate, after yesterday’s school-related drama, a Monkee’s song has been running through my head (hence today’s title). Of course, until I wrote this, it didn’t hit me that the song doesn’t necessarily say that Tomorrow will be a BETTER day. Only that it will be ANOTHER day. Hmm.

Exercise, Day 17: The Allergy Revolution
I’m proud to say that it’s 10:30 am, and I’m walking. So, back to a semi-normal schedule now that the kids’ schoolwork is done for last semester and we’re starting out fresh. The little ones (the younger two, anyway) are contently playing with GeoTrax while the older boys are working on their new schedule of schoolwork. I’m wishing it was easier to teach while walking, but I really shouldn’t gripe.

Exercise, Day 10: A Wife of Noble Character
Well, I did my grocery trip last night. I didn’t go completely alone, as Noah asked if he could come along and I was actually pleased at the prospect of company. It took longer than it should have, because I got to the store and realized that I’d forgotten my purse. *’.'* Once we got started, it took about an hour and a half, and that was given the fact that I had a specific list of things I planned to get and everything. Ordinarily a trip like that would be accomplished inside 40 minutes while the kids are a music lessons, but I was determined to buy nothing I didn’t need and nothing I didn’t want.

Exercise, Day 9: New Books!
Yesterday was MUCH BETTER as fasting days go. I was hungry enough to feel like I was accomplishing something, but I wasn’t ‘jonesing’ for food. That’s probably a tacky way to describe it, but when I’m in that horrible compulsive mode, I can completely understand what it must be like to be a drug or cigarette addict. At any rate, I was just glad to feel like I was doing well again.
The happy weigh-in probably helped.
