Round 1, Day 14: ADF

Two weeks down, one to go.

One of the questions I’ve debated is what to do for my next 21-day stint.  Should I just continue to do ADF, or stop ADF and do something else?  Or should I continue ADF AND do something else?  I can’t quite decide yet, and I’ll need to decide soon as I’m coming up on Day 21 in a week here.

I figure I’ll let the scale decide for me.  If I’m having enough success with this that I want to continue, I’ll continue.  Otherwise, I’ll drop it in favor of something else.  Right now, of course, as I type this with a tummy so full of food I’m uncomfortable, continuing doesn’t sound half bad.  But we’ll see how I feel tomorrow when this is not the case. 😉

Round 1, Day 13: ADF

Well, I have discovered one fool-proof way to endure a fasting day without crankiness:  just sleep through it.

Round 1, Day 12: ADF

I’m writing this at the end of the day, rather than the beginning.  As it happens, this turned out to be MY year to prepare the turkey, so I’ve been busy almost since sun-up.  It was a good day, though.  In lots of ways.

Round 1, Day 11: ADF

Most of the US is celebrating Thanksgiving today, as the day is always supposed to fall on the third Thursday in November.  This is, in fact, one reason why I was pleased with my plan to fast MWF and eat on Tuesdays and Thursdays: it meant I could participate in Thanksgiving without mixing around my eating schedule too much.  However, owing to the demands of family tradition, we are apparently not going to be celebrating with the rest of the country; the weather promises to be fairly nice today, but potentially slightly less nice tomorrow, so the guys have decided to hold the annual Thanksgiving Cutthroat Classic today instead of tomorrow.  As a result, we have moved the big meal to Friday.

Bleh.

This isn’t the end of the world; I did resolve to accommodate such things.  I’ll eat today and tomorrow, and take Saturday off instead.  We’ll spend that day packing and travelling, so it’s probably a good day for fasting anyway.  I’m just ‘Bleh’ing about it on principle.  Mice and men and all of that.

Round 1, Day 10: ADF

Wow… I just realized I’m halfway done.  That’s kind of a weird feeling.  I feel like I only just started!

Round 1, Day 9: ADF

Ah, eating day!   We had music lessons this morning, so I took the kids to Great Harvest Bread Company again and we picked up a new loaf of Dakota bread.  We also got one of their seasonal loaves called ‘Stuffing Bread’ (which is exactly what it sounds like it is — a loaf of bread that tastes exactly like stuffing), and cookies for the kids.  (more…)

Round 1, Day 8: ADF

I’m now starting my second week, and to celebrate I did an official weigh-in this morning.

We invested in a Wii Fit a couple of months ago, and I really do like it.  It’s challenging enough and rewarding enough that I like using it, but not so demanding that I feel like a complete loser when I do.  I understand that most PT-types feel that while it’s not something that will give you a good cardio workout if you’re already in shape, it’s a good ‘leg up’ for those of us who aren’t in good shape.

At any rate, the daily program on the Wii Fit game disk involves a ‘Body Test’ in which you’re weighed and your BMI is calculated, and both are tracked.  The weight that registers on the Wii Fit for me is always around 240/241.  My bathroom scale (which, admittedly, is a cheap thing we got from LTD), on the other hand, places me at more like 245.

My bathroom scale tells me I weigh 239.4 this morning.  The Wii Fit says I weigh 237.   Wow.
