ADF Hardcore, Day 19: FAIL! Or not… Oh heck, I don’t know anymore.

Bah.  I failed again.

Well, sort of.   I mean, I can still switch out today and tomorrow, and I probably will… so I can save it.  But this whole week has been such a mess, I’m tempted to call it a failure and just try to start fresh on Monday.

Cleaning, Day 5: On My Own…

Today was nice.  This is actually surprising, because it could easily have not been nice.  Andy is out of town for a conference this weekend through tomorrow, and I’ve had to hold down the fort and keep all four kids under control by myself.  Truth be told, it hasn’t been bad at all.   Last night I even took the whole crew out to a sit-down Chinese buffet, since it was sort of a special Just Us night and all.   Before we went in I talked to them about how we were going to handle the food-getting and managing the toddlers, and it went amazingly well.    No one spilled anything, no one argued.  Everyone received food in an orderly fashion and everyone ate a good amount.   Total win!

Also: Crab Rangoon.  Terrible for you, but oooh….  Everyone needs a Crab Rangoon now and then.

Lent, Day 29: Salad Bar Fail

Noah’s birthday is tomorrow, so we decided to take him out to Chuck E. Cheese’s for dinner tonight.   We’d go tomorrow, but it’s a Down Day and this seems easier than switching the weekend around. (Besides, the weather tomorrow is supposed to be really yucky.)

Since I’m still doing the vegetarian thing because of Lent, I opted for the salad bar rather than forcing the family to make half of the pizza cheese-only.   Not much of a sacrifice, really, because as it happens Chuck E. Cheese’s has a pretty good salad bar.  A nice selection of vegetables and fruit, it always looks really fresh, and the assortment of crunchy bits they offer is really good.

But there is one area in which Chuck E. Cheese’s salad bar commits a Salad Bar Fail, and that is this:

Lent, Day 22: Vegetarian Chinese

We went out for dinner tonight and went to a Chinese buffet.  It was the first time we’ve gone to one of those in awhile…. probably since before I started doing ADF, now that I think about it.  I suggested it, thinking I was being funny, and was surprised when Andy took me up on it.   Admittedly, I probably ought to have thought it through before opting for ‘going out’, since although I do love Chinese food, the sad fact is that most of the dishes I like best are …you know…MEAT dishes.  If we’d done the takeout thing, I wouldn’t have had to walk past all of those wonderfully meaty entrees on my way to the ONE vegetarian entree offering the buffet had.

Sleep, Day 5: Disrupted Schedules

It’s a darned good thing that I didn’t choose to walk 2 hours as my goal for THIS week, let me tell you.  Because once again, I’ve had to forego it.  Andy’s parents were due in at 3:00 today, which meant I had this morning and early afternoon to apply to getting the ground floor up to snuff and finishing Susanna’s room before they arrived.

My plan was to spend the morning on the ground floor and then devote three full hours to Susanna’s room.  That was the plan.  But as tends to be my unfortunate habit, I chose to roll up my sleeves and go at my house with Spring Cleaning fervor, so I ended up spending until nearly 2:00 on the ground floor even though it wasn’t even that bad to start with.  Much of this time was spent on the floors, granted, but still.

But anyway, they arrived at 3:00 sharp, as they always do, and the cleaning and the need to be a decent hostess prevented me from walking again.  Tomorrow morning I’m going to walk first thing so I don’t have to worry I’ve completely broken my stride.

No pun intended.

Exercise, Day 19: BLARG!

I was cursing Michelle last night.  Not that she actually did anything to me, but she was the bearer of bad news, so I cursed her anyway.  😉

ADF/WW: Day 12

Today we’re going to talk about that wonderful dietary situation that can singlehandedly undo a whole lot of good.

I refer, of course, to eating out.
