Exercise+, Day 13: …..Ow.

Okay…remember what I wrote yesterday, about feeling the Wii Fit didn’t give me much of a workout?  Well, today my arms are killing me.  Apparently, I should be dining on those words today, as well as as several others. :/

Exercise+, Day 12: Workin’ It In the Eleventh Hour

Technically, I should probably say I failed today, since I’m finishing up and it’s nearly 1:00 a.m.  However, in my defense I technically DID get 120 minutes of ‘exercise’ in before midnight…  I finally made good on my threat to get up early and do some Wii Fit first thing.  I got in an hour’s worth of workout, but on the whole I wasn’t satisfied with it, so I’m still going to do at least 100 minutes on the treadmill.

I’m such a slave driver!  But I intend to backdate (or at least back-time) this entry, because it’ll bug me to see a day on the calendar that isn’t filled. 😉  Cheater, me.

Exercise+, Day 11: Sickness and Superbowl

Wow! I made it down here to walk before 10:00!  Go me!

And, I am pleased to report, though this weird illness has claimed four of my six family members to date, both Noah and I are going strong.   As of this writing, I don’t have any symptoms at all, and I’m hoping it stays that way.  Noah is also surprisingly healthy considering he shares a room with Luke.  Granted, Luke sleeps below him on the bunk beds they share, but still.  I would have expected Noah to come down with this before either Susanna or Zack, and yet he’s fine.  I seem to recall Noah getting sick more or less by himself awhile back, so maybe he’s just had this already.

Me?  I blame my uber-healthy habits. 😉  Inside me there are complete Quinoa proteins shaking their spears and rarring at any invaders.  Just try to infect me!  I dare you!  My leukocytes are ready for you!  They have been armed with spinach and red bell peppers and celery and broccoli and quinoa and whole-grain wild rice!  So there!

Of course, just watch…tomorrow I’ll wake up and run for the bathroom. 😉  That would be about right.  And don’t think for an instant that Andy will stay home from work to help out if I do.  No sir.   So God, please do not let this happen to me tomorrow.  If it must happen, let it happen Saturday.  That would be just fine.

Exercise, Day 10: Noteworthy things

So I’m walking late again, but I have my excuses all lined up.  Last night the heavens delivered, a day late, all of the snow promised earier, so we had ANOTHER snow day today.  Main difference between and yesterday, of course, is that today there was actually snow.   A snow day with snow is a nice thing.

Exercise, Day 9: Forever Young

My basement is like a deep freeze today, thanks to the winter storm that hit us last night.  Actually, it turned out to be far less an actual ‘storm’ and more a ‘disappointing drizzle’, since at least 3 of the predicted inches of snow have failed to manifest themselves on our lawns and streets.  Oh well.  The temperatures, at least, dropped according to plan, so we’re now officially BEHIND in school and I don’t even care.  I don’t want to spend any more time down here than the kids do.  It’s COLD.

Fortunately, walking keeps me warm, so I can still do that.  My fingertips are just going numb as I type while I wait for my body to warm up with the exercise.

Exercise+, Day 8: Got to admit, it’s getting better…

Today, as Down Days go, was what I think I would term a ‘reassuring’ Down Day.  I was very good, ate about 1/2 cup of Quinoa for breakfast, and my usual veggie blends at lunch and dinner.  In-between I was legitimately hungry, but not such that I felt miserable.  It was just enough to reassure me that I’ve depleted my glycogen stores and presumably my body will be going to my fat stores next. 😉  Just hungry enough to feel like I’m accomplishing something, in other words.

Weight Check, Week 1

Well, I predicted this, but I’m still not too happy about it:

Exercise+, Day 7: Diagnostic Complete.

Walking late again today.   Once again, a busy weekend day.  I made good on my promise to make Window Cookies with Noah, and then we worked on Pinewood Derby cars, since the race is next weekend.   I actually could have made it a point to come down here sooner, but it’s bitingly cold outside, and that makes the basement pretty bitterly cold too.  I pretty much used every excuse I could think of not to come down until close to 10, when I realized I needed to get walking or call the day a failure, blogwise.

The blog is very useful in terms of motivation, that’s for sure.

It happened…

Susan Hingst stopped me at church tonight and said, “By the way, Jenny.. you look great!”

And tonight at the Trivia Night, my name was pulled for a Door Prize.  I picked out a shirt.  Size XL.   That is the first time in years that I’ve been able to pick out a shirt as a prize; normally they’re all too small.  I think I will cherish that shirt for a long time. 😉

I just wanted to share that.  And report in that I am walking my second hour away now, so I am still on track. 😉

Exercise+, Day 6: Friends, Gastric Bypass and Thou

Our weekends are filling up quickly.   Tonight is going to be a royal pain in the proverbial tuckus.  We’ve been invited to take part in a Trivia Night to benefit a local youth group, and it’s supposed to open at 6:00, and begin at 7:00.  It’s actually pretty important to get there around opening time, because part of the competition is table decorating, and if we don’t get there pretty quickly we won’t have time to set up properly.

Problem is, we have to be at church from 5-6pm.  Andy is the presiding elder at this service, and I, naturally, have to play Handbells. To make matters worse, Zack’s second basketball game is this afternoon at 3:30, which means it ends around 4:30, and I have to be up at church around 4:15.  So beginning around 3:15 we’re going to be leaping this way and dashing that way and I doubt we’ll be to anyplace we’re supposed to be on time.  If either of us just didn’t HAVE to be at church tonight, I think it would be fine..but as it is, we’re dealing with a lot of meh.

So I’m walking now, to at least get some walking in before the craziness starts.  I’m shooting for at least an hour, which should ideally give me enough time to prepare what needs to be prepared for the Trivia Night and get it loaded into the car.  Then I might actually get to take in some of Zack’s game, which I really don’t want to miss.  There is precisely one sport in this world that I actually enjoy watching, and now that my own SON is playing, I’m all the more determined to be there.  If I end up having to miss it, I’m going to be really upset.
